Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item can be improved through upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.
Players can recycle six items at a time to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item increases with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the effectiveness of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or by increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. In addition, many items can be reforged, which could increase their stats.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in the world as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses while others provide an overall bonus.
There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right side of the screen. It will show the expected stats following the upgrade. If you do not have enough of either the upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required to create an item. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the level of the upgrade and its rarity, however it can be reduced using a variety of ways, such as purchasing upgrades at a merchant or trading them to other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded using the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia or rune, and many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades alter the name of the item and add an adjective, for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods at all.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the attention of the viewers and trigger curiosity in the brain. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them even more effective in communicating the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph increases the value of a stat by certain range. This is displayed on the item's page when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the highest value that a glyph can enhance a stat by, not the amount that it actually improves the stat by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and the quality of the item that you are in awe of.
The majority of upgrade components added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can take out the glyph using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. item upgrader will destroy the item within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, so this should not be considered a loss.
When you take away an item after adding a glyph, the shards that are part of the glyph will disappear. You can also add an inscription on your equipment to provide an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is useful for those who take many hits from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes of weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mystery boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a brand new random affix, which is typically better than the original one. Reroll tokens are also a great way to reroll weapon stats and can be upgraded to provide better damage or other perks.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for item upgrades, but they are still able to be upgraded. When you press the "upgrade button", you can recycle these rerolled items. This will alter the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its own level, so items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls are based on a % chance for a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
A reroll is a good option to upgrade an item, but players should be aware that it can reduce the total ilvl of the weapon based on the number of rerolls required to raise the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This effect of lowering is most effective with ring items and Diadems that don't have competing ilvl-raising options.
Some players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. It's better to allow people to pay for it with money or food items, which will allow them to make changes to their builds without having to invest too much time. However the paid rerolls aren't something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they plan to add an option to change the race in the near future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first way to level up an item upgrade is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This boosts the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to increase the effect of upgrading, which increases the damage or heal of a particular stat. In addition, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to a more powerful upgrade type. When this is done the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades can be random. In most cases the chance of a better roll will result from glyphs, but there are also chances for higher or more special rolls. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a unique or rare item to a unique kind of item, it's likely to gaining an additional level.
Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on its base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels. Certain upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next level.
If you're fortunate, your upgraded item may attain the highest level on its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general the effect of upgrading is increased by a factor of +3.
Based on the item's level of base and upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change too. For example, a weapon that is upgraded from a unique or rare to an exceptional item is likely to be upgraded to the Enhanced Defense of the base item type.
