Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot gathered by enemies or gotten from chests or missions. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade stats as well as the necessary component or materials.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get affixes to boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's class. For example, an uncommon or unique weapon with a base that is standard will have only two affixes, while a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete based on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to get to its maximum level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower rate of success.
To measure item upgrades of a structure engineers employ a level to compare the measurement with an established reference point like a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength and damage as well as other characteristics. This can be done via the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in very rare instances.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. item upgrade come with an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than others. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also be equipped with a special fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to regular affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also has a number sets that give a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on an item. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can help you get a more powerful character faster, allowing players to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up in different ways. They can have different dimensions, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They are also useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the item's stats much in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.
Some set items are upgraded to meet their own special functions that can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. For example the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button on their screen of their character. The item will be displayed with its characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, armor and weapons are more valuable when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons.
